Home Based Online businesses

There are thousands of home based online businesses or work-at-home programs to choose from. Most are not worth your time or effort. Since I worked a bunch of them, I know…

Some are better than others.

First let’s look at the different ways to make money with an online business.

Auctions

Auctions are a great way to sell items online. You can get some real deals as well. The Best part about auctions is if properly advertised, they can bring True Market Value (TMV) for any particular item.

For Example: last Christmas my daughter, Makenna, wanted a particular toy. It was the Mickey Mouse Club House play set. Well the catalog we saw the advertisement in was sold out. So, my wife went on eBay and saw they were going for about $240 on eBay with all the accessories and figurines. The MSRP was $107 for the whole package. So we bought one for $245 off eBay.

Three days later we found them in Wal-Mart. Long story short we bought 7 and made a nice profit on all of them.

You can sell items on eBay and other auction sites.

There are 3 ways you can do this.

1.     Sell what you have.

2.     Buy wholesale and sell retail.

3.     Sell informational products.

Freelance Careers

Work at Home and Earn an Excellent Income

Imagine being able to work from your own home, doing a job you love, and getting paid handsomely for doing it. Wouldn't that be great?

Well, the good news is that this is not just a fantasy. It is a prospect that is well within your reach. Today millions of people worldwide have established highly-successful careers as freelance professionals. Writers, designers, programmers, and many other home-based consultants have discovered that freelancing offers the perfect combination of freedom, creativity, flexibility, and profitability.

Affiliate Programs and Sites

Believe it or not, most of those programs out there, the “get rich quick schemes,” I call them, are affiliate sites. They promote the site and take a cut of the proceeds without shelling out the $50 to $500 bucks it takes to join! You can get all that information and find out where to sign up for all those programs here.

There are lots of other techniques used as well. Google ad sense and the use of arbitrage, selling leads, recommending your favorite things! The easiest one is an informational product. Basically they sell themselves. They get delivered instantly, and they have the most spreads.

Be careful of all the links that disguise themselves as legit businesses. Remember if you’re not selling any goods or services and they are offering you money for signing up, then most likely it’s illegal.

But there are lots of programs that are legit and you can make some serious cash that way too.  But you need to be educated because the competition is stiff. This is where most people fail. Especially in advertising. This is crucial for these types of businesses.

Local Business
This could be the reason a small business lives or dies in today’s market place. Local small business owners sometimes do not have a website or worse have a website they paid big money for and it’s not bringing in traffic for them.

A properly made website cannot only help establish a good business it can grow it.

Websites are a great way let people know you’re out there.

Websites offer more than any yellow page ad could. Plus you could open new markets and grow your customer base worldwide. You can ship goods, consult, or just use it to send out emails and let local customers know when you are having specials. Open up special sales to your reader base alone. Offer coupons etc. Plus if properly monetized it can bring another stream of revenue into the company.

Going online for local business is by far the best thing a company can do.

Info Publishing

Info Publishing is something that is overlooked to its potential. Basically it’s selling specialized information. Not just information you get by looking it up somewhere, but your own personal knowledge of the subject.

Here are a few examples:

This is by far one of the most under rated uses of a website. First these techniques can be used to:

 1. Establish a list of clients that want your services.

 2. Can be used to collect data of potential customers to sell to other companies.

 3. Use to gather people to a particular site to show them multiple offers.

All 3 ways provide an income stream by providing the client with a service or free information in return for the clients Information.

Here is a good example of this. You offer a free e-book on the tours of Boston. Here’s what you need to know so you don’t get ripped off.

In the e-book you talk about how much average tours cost and what to look for. You then use their personal information and any other information you collect to either;

 A. sell them your goods or services or B. sell their information to local companies for a price per lead.

Lead Generation

Funnel targeted, PREsold traffic to your primary site... motivated, interested buyers will drive your sales.

Maybe you already have an online store (such as Yahoo! Stores, Amazon's zShops, or your own stand alone store.)

Or perhaps you have a sales site that sells your own e-book or hard goods.

Or do you earn income by selling through online auctions?

Even if you are happy with your existing e-commerce site, leverage it. (Yes, even if it already gets good traffic.)

Use SBI! To attract your own warm, willing-to-buy traffic... people with a particular, pre-defined interest in whatever you sell. And then monetize by sending that PREsold SBI! Traffic (related to your e-commerce site's theme, of course) to your primary existing site.

Network Marketing

Network Marketing starts with recruiting/lead generation. Generating leads is "made for the Net." But that's not the way matters have unfolded. Why? Because everyone in the industry has tried to force offline methods, online. There's no need to push (i.e., chase cold calls/prospects) when you can motivate them to pull (i.e., they call you.)
