What is Multi Level Marketing?
Over the Years MLM has gotten a bad rap. But besides the illegal pyramid
scams and gifting association there are some real good Companies out there
that you can belong to that really help a lot of people.
Multi-level marketing businesses function by recruiting salespeople (also
called Distributors) to sell a product and offer additional sales commissions
based on the sales of people in their down line.
This arrangement is similar to franchise
arrangements. It is also like any major company that sells anything. For
example: your a sales manager who has to go out and hire 5 people for your
team.( in MLM. its called recruiting) Then you train those 5 people to sell
your products. you receive an override or commission based on those sales. Not
only do you get a cut but so does the directors, your regional sales managers,
VP, and so on up it goes. So in reality just about every company is a MLM.
Just not paying the distributors as well.
One major difference between Corporate America and MLM is once you get to
those positions high up in Corporate you have to work harder to keep your job
and to produce. in a MLM company once you hit those positions you do not have
to work as much and can spend more time with your family and friends and make
the same if not a lot more than the corporate job.
There are lots of things to watch out for though. the
FTC has a website helping consumers learn what to look for in any MLM to make
sure its legit.
Now with the internet and all the wonderful technologies available it is
easier than ever to start and run a profitable home based business with MLM.
But the one thing you must remember is that this business is about
people. No matter what company or product you sell, its about people.
Since this is a people business, you must be doing two things at all times
when just starting out. Recruiting People. Selling product to the end user.
Now Before you Join Any Company READ
THEIR CONTRACT! How many people do you have to have in your down line
before you start making the type of money you want to make. For Example. how
many people must be in your down in order to make $5,000 a month. This number
will wake you up and decide if its possible for you to succeed.
Second. You want to
check the contract for what happens when you reach your level of income do you
still have to produce personally? For example. lets say you built a
down line of 2500 people and your making $10,000 a month. Do you still have to
recruit people in order for you to get paid? Most companies that is still a
stipulation.
Third. Is your contract
longer than 5 pages? What loop holes are in there that give you company an
out not to pay you. Some contracts even say that your attorney has to read
this and has advised you on the contract and by signing your name you state
that he has done so. So READ YOUR
CONTRACT!
